I made home-made falafel for the first time around 6 months ago with this recipe. I’ve made it around 5 times since and I love it more each time.

I got this recipe from Veganmisjonen (norwegian site) which is a girl that shares the recipes she makes as a vegan. Although I’m not vegan, not even a vegetarian, she makes hella good food and I love trying her recipes.

This is her recipe:

5 dl chickpeas (2dl dry if you make them yourself)
1 onion, chopped (I use half an onion)
3 cloves garlic, chopped
1 ml
1 ml cardemom
1 ml chilipowder
1 ml cumin
1 ml paprikepowder
1 ml natron
1 ml bakingpowder
1 teaspoon coriander or a handful freshly chopped
1 teaspoon salt
5-8 tablespoons chickpea flour (I use normal flour)

I am aware this image looks a bit.. yeah..

Start by mashing the chickpeas in a bowl and add the rest (5 tablespoons of the flour). I like to keep a little bit of the water so it doesn’t get dry. I mash it with the underside of a drinking glass so I have a few half ones and a few whole ones. I don’t need it to be pureed. Either mix it in a machine until all is evenly mixed or just do it by hand like me.

Leave them for thirty minutes before you start heating up some oil. Remember to check  one alone first to see if it needs more flour to stay together.

I enjoy this with some pita, salsa and random vegetables.  This would also work wonderfully with bulgur, which is a recipe that’s going to come soon. :-)

This is deeefinitely worth making! Try it, you won’t be sorry!

    dette skal jeg helt sikkert prøve, har flere ganger prøvd sånne ferdige pakker som man bare blander med vann men har ikke fått det til, så jeg sluttet å prøve og handlet ferdige, men det her kunne jeg sikkert fått det til :)
